Monday, September 21st, 2009 We began harvesting only today, And along came September's beautiful sun, We feel a bit alone on the hills, Many of our wine grower friends started early. With nostalgia I remember the orchards, where as a child I'd pick up golden and juicy fruits fallen on the ground. I so enjoying seeing my grapes turn golden, in yersteryear's colors, so I wait for the last minute, very old school! Even though it's too early to tell if 2009 will be a great vintage, the climatic conditions of August and September are heralding some great wines! The Côte d'Or has been bathing in sunshine and watered just right, a delight for our grapes! It's up to the winegrower to well understand his wines and accompany them all along the marvellous journey which will lead to their bottling in 18 months. Henri Darnat Today |
